Third Annual Seedy Seed Swap!
Time to start thinking of planning your garden.The 3rd Annual Seedy Saturday Seed Swap is set for Saturday, Feb. 18, from 1-4 pm. We are thrilled to be partnering with the Idaho Botanical Garden, and will have the swap on their beautiful grounds (under cover, of course!). The Seed Swap will be in the Folly Building and we’ll have ongoing seed saving demonstrations in the Cottage. Address is: 2355 N. Old Penitentiary Rd., Boise, Idaho. Bring yo…ur own garden-saved seeds to swap with other Treasure Valley gardeners, bring your questions about seed saving and gardening, and we’ll have experts on hand to help you. There is no charge to enter the Idaho Botanical Gardens but we will ask for a simple donation ($1 or more) to cover basic expenses. So bring your seed, envelops to take seed home in and any seed stories you would like to share with us.

series focuses on conservation
Registration is now open for a series of free water-efficient landscaping classes.
The sessions, sponsored by United Water Idaho, the City of Boise and the University of Idaho Extension, will teach homeowners how to incorporate the principles of xeriscape landscaping and water conservation practices in their yards and gardens.
The four class sessions begin February 6 and will be held at the Boise Public Library, 715 S. Capitol Boulevard. The class schedule is as follows:
•February 6: Improving your Soil and Composting
•February 13: Xeriscape Concepts & Landscaping with Adaptive Plants
•February 22: Choosing the Right Plant
•February 27: Caring for a Water-Wise Landscape
Instructors are recognized experts in their fields from the U of I Extension, the City of Boise and the Idaho Botanical Garden. Each class runs two hours, from 6 to 8:00 p.m., and will be held in the community room in the library.

PAC³ grants available
Performing Arts & Cultural Community Celebration Grant
The Department of Arts & History offers the Performing Arts for Cultural & Community Celebrations (PAC³) grant program as a means to expand opportunities for performing artists in local community-building events and celebrations. Organizers of such events are encouraged to apply for funds to help pay performing artists as well as any other costs associated with incorporating them into an event (such as stage or equipment rentals).
Grant requests can be for up to $2000.

Here’s your chance to learn about trees from the experts. Arborists from Boise Parks and Recreation’s Community Forestry division and other professionals will teach a series of free tree-care classes starting Feb. 29.
Classes will meet from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays starting Feb. 29 in the Boise Public Library Hayes Auditorium, 715 S. Capitol Blvd. (Please use the first floor Eighth Street entrance.)

- March 7: How Trees Work
- March 14: How to Prune Trees
- March 21: Selecting and Planting Trees
- March 28: Pests and Problems of Trees
Community Forestry is responsible for the management of 41,000 public trees in parks and rights of way.
