Although not within WBNA boundries, the Hyatt Wetlands Project is a matter of importance to the residents of the WBNA.
Known by a variety of names, the Hyatt Hidden Lakes Reserve or Hyatt Wetlands, is a 44-acre haven for birds, animals, and people located on the edge of Boise’s West Bench. It will also be the site of an innovative stormwater treatment project featuring sand filters, stormwater piping, a porous pavement parking lot, restroom, an access bridge, pathways, and educational kiosks.

As you may be aware, the City of Boise has been working on a new ordinance to
implement those elements of Blueprint Boise that encourage urban agriculture and local
food production. The attached draft ordinance is the culmination of work completed by
the Urban Agriculture Committee. It was drafted only after receiving substantial
feedback on a set of preliminary recommendations presented to various parties earlier
this year. The amendment includes an update to existing standards for the keeping of
livestock and bees as well as new allowances for urban farms.
Attatched is a draft of that ordinance

Boise Police and parents want to team up to keep our little ghosts and goblins safe this Halloween night! Here are some Safety tips from BPD, plus details on where extra patrols and safety resources will be Monday!
Boise Police will have full patrol teams, plus a few extra out this Monday, October 31st, Halloween night, helping to keep the evening safe for kids and families.
Boise Police will have extra patrols earlier in the evening on Monday at the busiest streets in the city for trick-or-treaters. Officers will have extra units assigned to cruise Harrison Blvd. and Warm Springs Blvd. monitoring both pedestrian and vehicle traffic for the safety of our trick-or-treaters!
Parents can do their part by using the following safety check list to help ensure a happy and fun evening!
Halloween Safety Check List:
First and foremost, parents should accompany their children and carry a flashlight for safety and visibility.
• Have children wear costumes that are bright and reflective. Make sure shoes fit well and costumes are short enough to prevent tripping.
• Consider adding reflective tape or striping to costumes and trick-or-treat bags for greater visibility.
• Avoid using simulated knives, guns or swords. If such props are used, be certain they do not appear authentic and are soft and flexible to prevent injury.
• Always walk. Never run across a street.
• Confine, segregate or otherwise prepare household pets for an evening of frightful sights and sounds. Be sure that all dogs and cats are wearing collars and proper identification tags.
• Motorists should remain cautious and drive slowly. Adult party-goers should have a designated driver.
• Law Enforcement authorities should be notified immediately of any suspicious or unlawful activity. The non-emergency dispatch number: 377-6790. For emergencies call 911.

Fall is a beautiful time of year in the city of trees; the multi-colored leaves above our heads are a sight to behold. During late fall, the city of trees turns into the city of leaves; these leaves pose a problem for many senior and disabled residents who are unable to rake and bag them.
Over the past 25 years, with the help of more than 110,000 volunteers, Neighborhood Housing Services has organized one of the largest community events in the state of Idaho,Rake Up Boise™.
Nearly 3.5 million pounds of biodegradable leaf bags have been collected and composted over the last 25 years. That’s about 1200 tons of waste kept out of the landfill and used for various city and county sites

Public Involvement Opportunity
Since the open house, the ACHD Commissioners have reviewed the comments and directed staff to explore another option for pedestrian facilities. This option would include curb, gutter and sidewalk on the south side of Mountain View Drive for the entire length of the street between Cole Road and Ustick Road. As part of this option ACHD would also evaluate the feasibility of sidewalk on the streets leading to Mountain View Elementary School.
ACHD staff will present the proposed Mountain View project, with the refined option mentioned above, to the ACHD Commissioners onWednesday, October 26th, 2011 at the 6 p.m. Commission Meeting. The Commissioners will consider whether or not the project should move forward. The public is encouraged to attend as there will be an opportunity for public comment before the Commission makes a decision. If you are unable to attend the meeting, but would like to submit comments, please send them to 3775 Adams Street, Garden City, ID 83714 or to projects@achdidaho.org. A staff report will appear on ACHD’s web site at least a week before the meeting.
