\nThe Mayor’s eMemo<\/p>\n

Dear WBNA:
\nI’m looking for a few neighborhood heroes — and I need your help to find them.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I’m talking about the person who is always ready to help a neighbor in need; the first to volunteer for a clean-up project; the one who forms the Neighborhood Watch program and organizes the block party. The person everyone wants for a neighbor.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The City of Boise wants to recognize these champions who, in large ways and small, do so much to help make our lives better. And I’ll be doing that at our National Good Neighbor Day reception<\/a> on Wednesday, Sept. 28. The event, free to the public, will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Main Library auditorium.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Neighborhoods are the cornerstones of a livable city, and Boise has some of the best. Our 36 registered neighborhood associations<\/a> represent every facet of our diverse community. These are the places where people live, work, learn and have fun.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Boise celebrates and supports neighborhoods in many ways — our National Night Out <\/a>in August; the Neighborhood Reinvestment Grant program<\/a>, just launched for 2012; and this Saturday’s Treasure Valley Neighborhood Summit<\/a>. The Good Neighbor awards I’ll be presenting later this month not only recognize good works; they also inspire all of us to look for ways to lend a hand where we can.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

But I can’t honor these heroes unless I know who they are. Please fill out a National Good Neighbor Day Nomination form <\/a>today; the deadline is this Sunday, Sept. 11.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Don’t forget to thank your good neighbors for their good deeds — and do a few of your own.<\/p>\n
