March 12 Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Ronnie Marler.

He reported that 4 members were able to attend the selection process of artists for the signal boxes.  The Arts and Histgory Department had 120 artists whom submitted work that was shown in slide form to the attendees from around the city.  Ronnie will represent us in the next step to choose artists for the approved signal boxes.  Those attending gave him their notes on the artists that they favored.

From that meeting Ronnie reported that we were given two additional boxes in our area.  Artisits that we will be working with are:  Candi Canninng,  Amy Larson, Betsy Richarson, Danielle Mierzwa, Melanie Folwell and Ray Kane.  The Arts and History Department of Boise will contact the artists to submitt preliminary sketches that we will be able to review.

Next item was a fund rasing activitiy so we can host a celebration when the boxes are dedicated.  That line item for a celebration on our budget request was rejected by the city.  Discussion followed on a neighborhood yard sale at the Walmart parking lot.  It will be a one day (Saturday) event in May or June.  Permission from Walmart and the property manager of the shopping center needs to be granted and then we can advertise for donations and get publicity out.  Supplies, dates of the event and pricing items was discussed.

Next regular meeting will be May 14.
