Treasure Valley Neighborhood Summit

Dear Neighborhood Leader,

Attached is a flyer providing information on the September 10th Treasure Valley Neighborhood Summit. This Summit is hosted by the Idaho Crime Prevention Association. It is also one of the events in our own ‘Boise Celebrates Good Neighbors’ campaign to help strengthen, improve and enhance our community. Click on http://goodneighbors.cityofboise.org/

We want each one attending the Summit to come away with tools to use and share with your neighbors; to be motivated and inspired in your efforts for a healthy and safe neighborhood, and to know that together, we are “laying the foundation for better neighborhoods . . . one brick at a time.”

The cost is only $15/person, which includes breakfast, lunch, a variety of workshops and roundtable discussions, listening to nationally known speaker and author, Jay Walljasper, and connecting with other neighborhood leaders. How cool is that?! To register, go to www.idahocrimeprevent.org
Pre-registration is required and the deadline to register is September 1st.

Also attached, is a list of the workshops and their descriptions.

Feel free to share this email with your neighbors. Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you at the Summit!

[UPDATE]

First, the deadline of July 29th will not be your only opportunity to provide comment. Rather, this is the first of several opportunities. By design, these recommendations are very basic. Our hope is to generate feedback on the general approach that will guide us in developing specific allowances and standards. We will then seek your input as specific standards are developed, and again on final ordinance language. This will all occur before any public hearing. Finally, you will be notified of the public hearings before both the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council. Your comments will be welcome at that time as well.

In short, we will be seeking your input throughout the process. Due to the confusion, and to make sure everyone has adequate time to weigh-in, we are going to extend the comment period on the preliminary recommendations to August 12, 2011.

I look forward to hearing from you, and I apologize for any confusion I may have caused. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact me directly.

Thanks,

Sara Baker emailed me this weekend to let me know she got an update on the proposed cell tower on Ustick the we have been following. here is what she had to say.

I contacted Hal Simmons, planning director.  Good news about the proposed cell tower.  He said the guy never completed the application, showed he had a legal interest or paid fees.  Hal thinks he’s gone.
